Never Fear The Shrooms ❤️‍🩹✌️🍄

About two years ago, I met a new friend on this subreddit that had reached out to me. They had mentioned how my story has motivated them to deal with their own trauma and battles. This always warms my heart as my focus is to help others heal on my healing journey. We talked for a second as I explained how amazing this process has been. He responded.

“Oh my gosh. Thank you so much. Im just really nervous about drugs.” He even later explained that he had grown up being told alcohol is the only acceptable drug. This is the problem with western culture. The war on drugs has forced oppression and depression and mental storms for years.

For context on my background; I have been a user of psychedelics for years to explore my brain as an artist. I went through 3 years of extreme trauma. Wanting to die everyday from my confusion and chronic pain. Not understanding why things changed so much. Once i lost my sister I became an alcoholic again. This was dangerous as i was a 7 year clean cocaine addict. I reconnected with my now wife and got clean. We decided to do psilocybin therapies for me. I had a bad macro-trip on our 5th experience that made me SO SCARED. I had a vision I remember to this day where I was in the back seat of the car when my sister was hit. I watched her hand press against the glass for help. Originally I never thought I could do it again. But then i realized i needed to confront it. Thats what led to us starting micro-dosing a year later. I recently had a macro-dose that changed my life fully, I can link for those interested.

I responded to my new friend with the following. I asked if he would mind if I posted this to try and help others on their healing and I hope this helps whoever it needs.

“Don't be nervous at all friend! It is totally normal to feel nervousness on this type of thing before doing them with how western culture has bashed them so hard. I have a few tips to help ease your nerves if you want to read!

First, setting is the MOST important thing ALWAYS in any psilocybin scenario; especially with higher dosages. This includes headspace, your area and setting, the people you are around. Everything plays a part. You want to give your mind the best chance to find peace so that you can explore what is going on. Losing my sister to a drunk driver was hard. And anytime I have ever had a bad thought or visual come up during shrooms I fully embrace it. This forces you to not push things down to deal with them in years. Microdosing can take some time for benefits to show up, but it is so worth the benefits. Some things to try to help setting- uplifting music. I like things like Tycho or Odesza. Think music that makes you feel like your are exploring your mind. I also really enjoy watching documentaries that i KNOW will not be bad at all. For instance, my favorite trip experience (one of) was watching Fantastic Fungi and watching forests melt. It made my ego melt with it.

Next thing is definitely RESEARCH!!! Research can fully remove any nervousness that comes around the stigma psilocybin holds. Some things I highly suggest reading or watching the following can help so much as it did me:

Fantastic Fungi by Paul Stamets - The most amazing movie to watch to encourage a love for mycology and mushrooms. It shows you everything about mushrooms and how they can save our world.

The Psychedelic Experience by Timothy Leary - The King of psychedelics for Western Culture. This book is based on Tibetan Monk teachings and is the number one guide for psychedelic experiences.

Michael Pollan Netflix Documentary and Books - Recently Michael Pollan released an amazing docu-series called How To Change Your Mind talking about psychotherapies and the benefits that they have on the body. It is a very inspiring mini series.

Psilocybin has been used with many other entheogenic drugs for all of time in many ancient cultures to see gods, connect with their culture or mind, and so many things. With a little research, you will realize that Western Culture has pushed this medicine into the dark for no reason.

The Final Point ties into the last bit. Western Culture and the War on Drugs. Im not trying to sound like a hippie when I say this, but who cares I am one anyway. Our culture became scared of psilocybin during the 70's during the midst of the War on Drugs and everything that was pushed with Big Pharma. The legality of it has made a medicine that could LITERALLY SAVE MILLIONS OF STRUGGLING PEOPLE has caused a culture shock and tear within our society. Coming from Ohio, people would drop their face and call their pastor if you ever mentioned weed let alone mushrooms. We live in a different day and age where we do not live in the dark. Inform yourself of what is true because our country has pushed away from healing the sick. I hope this helps you friend. If you ever even need someone to sit through a trip with you. Call me. Always here to help.”

Along with this, I would like to note how important I find it to get outdoors while macro or micro-dosing. You will feel so interconnected and at peace. We love to mushroom hunt while micro-dosing and it is a thing of wonder.

Happy healing. Mush Love
